June's Destination: Washington St. Skatepark

A hidden haven beneath the highway. Construction on the first skate park in San Diego began in ‘99, without permission, and was quickly threatened by city bulldozers. But local skaters stood their ground and in 2002 one of the world’s greatest skate parks was completed.

A place to be free. Nestled below an impressive 300-foot sandstone bluff, Blacks Beach has stunning views and the best barrels in San Diego. But that’s not all – Blacks is a known nude beach where locals and tourists come to share a little extra skin.

March's Destination: Stardust Donuts

A local sweet spot. Serving donuts since ‘67, this family-owned business makes the best donuts in town. Arnold, the owner, arrives every morning at 2:00AM to put his secret recipe to work. Locals’ tip – they open around 10:00AM and close as soon as they sell out.

A place to rock. Around since ‘89, this famed music venue has a garage-band vibe with a rich pedigree of musicians. The stage hosted many bands before their big break—Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins, for example—in an intimate, grungy setting with killer acoustics.
